If you're one of the 90 million iPhone users in the United States, there is a good chance you will be updating your iPhone to iOS 12.1 in the coming months. Apple held one of its annual keynote speeches today at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Brooklyn, New York. Several new features were added to the software, including new emojis, updates to the camera, and enhancements to Facetime.
First of all, new emojis were added! Emojis are highly anticipated every year, and this year was no exception. Redheads are finally represented in the emoji universe with over 70 emojis now having the ability to have red hair.

The animal kingdom wasn't left out either. Llamas, parrots, peacocks, and even pesky mosquitos have joined the emoji zoo. The most popular new emoji might just be the tiny yet mighty bagel, which people have looked forward to since its announcement in September.
Updates to the camera were also added in iOS 12.1. One of the coolest features is advanced depth perception. Users can now manually adjust depth in their photos which allows for beautifully blurred backgrounds and fantastic up-close clarity.

There has also been an update to the iOS ARKit camera. This allows app developers to further develop apps that involve augmented reality, such as Pokemon Go and other immersive apps.
The final major feature that Apple has added to iOS 12.1 is group Facetime. Before now, Facetime could only be enjoyed by two people. Now it can support up to 32!

This feature was initially introduced in June, but due to some production delays it's just now being released. One neat feature about group Facetime is that it can automatically detect who is speaking most prominently and brings their video chat head to the front.
What are you waiting for? iOS 12.1 is available for download today! Get out there and test out the new camera features, Facetime all your friends at once, and send them all the bagel emoji just because you can!
